Secure IP Video in the OR
Medical professionals rely on the delivery of the highest quality video -- whether it is within the hospital, to another campus location, or across the world. They count on it. They depend on HaiVision.

Video is now used throughout the medical industry. With the marvel of minimally invasive techniques as well as the miniaturization of medical devices to assist in life saving procedures, endoscopes (miniature cameras) and other motion video devices are now widely used. Clearly, video is essential within the procedure room. However, making this video available to consulting physicians, interns, and device experts involves critical communications. One of HaiVision's achievements has been the development of mission critical video transmission systems for the medical community.

Traditional videoconferencing tools are everywhere within hospitals. They are perfect for making video phone calls, but provide limited video quality and session reliability. Physicians need the highest level of video quality matched with the highest reliability available. They also require OR video delivered securely throughout the medical campus to conference areas, to and from labs, to remote monitoring stations, and to the desktop.

HaiVisions codecs and encoders are ideal for operating room applications. The hai1000 supports multiple streams of SD, HD, or computer video to support point of view cameras, scopes, and visualization displays and deliver this media throughout the facility. HaiVision's MAKITO and BARRACUDA provide secure HD and SD video encoding and are the perfect match for the Video Furnace -- IP video distribution system.

Video Furnace is the ideal IP video platform for healthcare deployments. First, its InStream player technology requires no client side installation and is supported on virtually any platform. This means that IT does not need to install or maintain any viewing endpoint computer making installation simple. Second, through the integration of the Video Furnace Conditional Access Module with the hospital's authentication system (ie: LDAP server) and the system-wide support for AES encryption, video access is 100% secure. Administrators can always report on who viewed what video, when. This is only available with Video Furnace due to the client / server architecture of the InStream player.

HaiVision has extensive experience in healthcare. We support the most prominent uses of network video - telesurgery. Telesurgery is perhaps the most demanding network video application requiring the lowest latency and highest quality video transmission, usually over great distances. In fact, HaiVision's MAKO-HD codecs have supported the transmission of stereo high definition video required by today's advanced surgical robotic systems.
